The Chinese Valentine’s day is celebrated on August 22nd. A couple engaged in a passionate liplock that lasted for 10 minutes with China’s West Lake as the background in the Zhejiang province.
However the man suddenly heard a bubbling sound in his ear. He subsequently felt a sharp pain after this and suddenly felt his hearing sensation becoming impaired. The couple rushed to the doctor.
It was identified that his eardrum was perforated. It would take 2 months for him to recover from this. Intense smooching at times can occasionally lead to imbalance in air pressure in the regions surrounding the ear. Having a partner who is a heavy breather aggravates the risk. This may result in a rupture. Those with an underlying condition of Tympanitis, a condition where the ear membrane is inflated, are more susceptible to this. Unless the condition is serious, antibiotics and dry ears resolve the issue. Surgery may be required for more complicated cases.
Travelling by flight, diving and inadvertent contact during physical fights might also be potential risks for this condition to resurface. The incident became viral on the social media platforms of China garnering more than 10 lakh likes.
