  • Suspended PI Girish remains the complainant in the Chinnaswamy stampede case
  • A new inspector has been appointed to carry out the investigation
  • Girish can be summoned for inquiry if additional details are required

In connection with the tragic stampede at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 innocent lives, major developments continue to unfold. The Karnataka government, which has already suspended several police officers for lapses in crowd control, has now initiated a reshuffle in the investigation process.

A suo motu case had earlier been registered at the Cubbon Park Police Station following the deadly incident. Notably, the complainant in the case was none other than the then-Station House Officer (PI) Girish. However, with his recent suspension due to alleged negligence, questions arose about how the investigation would proceed.

As per new directives, the investigation will now be handled by a newly appointed inspector. Despite his suspension, PI Girish will continue to remain the complainant in the case. The suspension order clearly states that Girish will not participate in the investigation, but his role as the original complainant will stand.

If the new investigating officer requires any further clarification or details related to the initial complaint, Girish can be summoned via official notice. The suspension order also explicitly mentions that Girish must cooperate fully with the inquiry process, should his presence be needed.

This procedural adjustment is meant to ensure an unbiased and transparent investigation while maintaining the legal validity of the suo motu FIR.
