A joyous celebration turned into a nightmare on Tuesday as a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 11 lives. Among the victims was 14-year-old Divyanshi from Kannur, Yelahanka, and a young techie, Sahana, who worked at Bosch.
Sahana, a software professional from Kolar working at Bosch, succumbed to injuries at Vaidehi Hospital. She had come with friends to join the celebrations when the stampede occurred. Initial reports suggested her condition was critical, prompting her parents to rush to Bengaluru. Sadly, she did not survive.

In another heart-wrenching loss, Divyanshi, a Class 9 student and ardent RCB fan, had gone to witness the team’s victory celebration, accompanied by her aunt Rachana and another relative. Her excitement quickly turned tragic as the crowd surged uncontrollably near the stadium gates. The young girl, daughter of Shivakumar and Ashwini, was among those fatally caught in the chaos.
Friends were seen grieving at the hospital, struggling to process the sudden loss. The victims’ families are devastated, with several others reportedly injured in the incident.
Authorities are investigating crowd management lapses as the scale of the tragedy becomes clearer. The event, meant to honor the team’s achievement, has left the city in mourning. Calls for accountability and better crowd control have grown louder as Bengaluru grapples with the loss of young lives.
