In a rare departure from the norm, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan graced the Supreme Court of India this afternoon as a guest of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud. Khan, known for his impactful roles and social contributions, attended the court's post-lunch session, seated prominently in the front row.

This visit is noteworthy, as it marks the first time a prominent figure from the Indian film industry has been invited to Supreme Court for the special screening of “Laapata Ladies”. The CJI, with a touch of humour, addressed the unusual guest by saying, "I do not want a stampede in court. But Aamir Khan is here today. He is here for the screening and Kiran Rao too will be with us."
Attorney General R. Venkataramani added a light-hearted note, commenting, "It is a star-studded court today," to which CJI Chandrachud laughed, and Senior Advocate Huzefa Ahmadi jested that the AG’s remark might be referring to the CJI himself.
Khan, along with his spouse Kiran Rao, were in the Supreme Court for a special screening of their film, “Laapata Ladies”. This screening, organized by the Supreme Court's Communication Division on the CJI's initiative, is part of a gender sensitization program aimed at the court’s judges, their families, and the court staff. The idea for the screening stemmed from CJI Chandrachud's wife, Kalpana Das, after she and her team watched the film. The event took place in the auditorium of the Supreme Court’s administrative building complex.
