June 21st marks the International Yoga day. Various political leaders in Karnataka also observed this day by participating in public events wherein several Yoga exercises were performed. 

A Yoga program was conducted at Bellary in which Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah had also participated. Sandalwood actress Sreeleela also shared the stage with him. The program was helmed by Vachananda Sri Avadutha Vinay Gururji. The event was attended by more than 100 people including Yoga enthusiasts from foreign countries. The event was held at the Dr B.R Ambedkar Stadium in Vijayapura. District Collector T. Bhoobalan, CEO Rishi Anand and SP Hishikesh Sonawane also participated in the event. Officials of the Ayush Department and students were also spotted at the venue. Various Yoga exercises were performed in the course of the event.

Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises of India H.D Kumaraswamy also took part in a Yoga event in New Delhi. The event was conducted in the BHEL township in Noida. “From 2014, Yoga is being practised at an international level. Modi had conducted an event at the Mysuru Palace. His support for Yoga is extensive. Yoga provides relief from ailments. Yoga enjoys a prominent spot in our culture. A person who practises Yoga on a daily basis will be healthy,” Kumaraswamy said in an interaction with reporters after the event.
