Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah called for an annual conference on July 6th 2024. Senior police officials were present on this occasion along  with several others. CM Siddaramaiah praised the police over their functioning and also expressed disappointment over certain concerns.

Despite having a reputation for efficiency across India, concerns pertaining to law and order in the state have been raised by the opposition in the recent past. CM Siddaramaiah set a target for officials to bring down the crime rate. CM Siddaramaiah appreciated the police for their proactive approach in nabbing the terrorists responsible for the bomb blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe. In the case of Anjali Ambiger in Hubballi however, the police was found to have not pursued the case in earnest despite the family’s complaints regarding threats Anjali received. Anjali was eventually murdered by 23-year old Girish Sawant. “If the right measures were taken, Anjali would not have been killed,” CM Siddaramaiah said.

The Bengaluru traffic problem was also raised by CM Siddaramaiah. “Only the traffic constables are visible on the roads. Senior officials must also be present. It is not about merely sitting under the A/C in offices. You must also work,” Siddaramaiah observed.
