  • Land was gifted to my wife by her brother: Siddaramaiah

Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah’s wife faced allegations of having procured 14 Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) properties in a 50:50 ratio. Right to Information (RTI) activist Ganagaraju has alleged that the sanction for this was obtained illegally. He had released documents in this regard.

CM Siddaramaiah has offered a clarification on this issue. He stated that MUDA had taken possession of land belonging to his wife.  He added that was the reason for allocation of land in a 50:50 ratio at a later stage. He also mentioned that these transactions had taken place at a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was still in power. “We received approval when BJP was in power. The land has been allocated in a swamp near the Ring Road. It was gifted to my wife by her brother. It is not something I acquired when I was in power. The rule of dividing the land in a ratio of 50:50 was brought by the BJP,” he said.

Siddaramaiah pointed out that MUDA had distributed the portions designated to Siddaramaiah’s wife across various locations. Siddaramaiah affirmed that no wrongdoing has taken place in this deal.
