Reacting swiftly to prevent such tragedies in the future, Commissioner B. Dayananda has emphasized caution and professionalism during vehicle checks, especially at night. Through a video conference, he addressed senior officers and issued key guidelines. These include mandatory use of reflective jackets by officers during night checks, placing barricades safely and not directly on the road, and attaching reflectors to all barricades to enhance visibility.

Police officers have been instructed to avoid sudden stops, especially for two-wheelers and families. Officers must signal from a distance to alert the vehicle to stop, rather than causing abrupt halts. He also stressed that if any unfortunate incident occurs during these checks, the responsibility would rest on the police officers involved.

The instructions underscore a balance between enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring the safety of citizens. The Commissioner has emphasized that the police must maintain composure, communicate respectfully with the public, and focus on preventing such tragic accidents.

Additionally, police have been reminded to take strict action against traffic violators but with proper procedures and a humane approach. The recent Mandya tragedy has served as a wake-up call, prompting Bengaluru police to refine their practices and prioritize safety during vehicle inspections.
