The Hennur-Bagalur main road, intended as an alternate route to Kempegowda International Airport for East and Southeast Bengaluru residents, has become a commuter’s nightmare.

Commuters and nearby residents have repeatedly voiced their concerns to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), MLA K.J. George, and local authority B.A. Basavaraja. They have highlighted the frequent accidents caused by the road’s poor condition. Despite these appeals, significant improvements remain unseen.

The Bengaluru City Traffic Police continue to urge citizens to use this alternate route to the airport, citing severe congestion at Hebbal. However, the question arises: how can commuters rely on such a hazardous path?

The stretch is plagued not only by potholes but also by a lack of functional streetlights, making it perilous to navigate after dark. This has led to taxis and auto-rickshaws refusing to ply this route, compounding the difficulties faced by commuters, residents, and local businesses.

It’s high time the BBMP addresses this pressing issue to ensure the safety and convenience of Bengaluru’s citizens.
