50 Karnataka congress leaders met with the AICC (All India Congress Committee) high command which includes former party chief Rahul Gandhi and General Secretaries K C Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar had also attended the meeting.

The meeting focussed on several pressing issues which are serving to be a hurdle for the ruling party in the state. One pertinent issue among this was corruption. The ministers were briefed about the riot act. This to say that all forms of corruption and unethical conduct would be dealt with decisively. Kharge reiterated that they have received a historical mandate on the back of an anti corruption crusade, therefore it becomes all the more important to act responsibly.

It was also noted that a coordination committee would be in place to ensure a smooth connection between the government and the party workers. There were complaints about the need to fast track approval of development work in certain constituencies and the need for better responsiveness from certain ministries.

The party also discussed strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha election wherein one senior leader and a minister have been tasked with monitoring developments in each constituency. Randeep Surjewala said that he was confident of the party winning at least 20 seats.
