In a significant show of solidarity, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, arrived in Kerala on Thursday and visited the landslide-affected Wayanad district. The Gandhis' visit aims to assess the situation and provide support to those affected by the recent natural disaster.
Rahul Gandhi, who previously represented Wayanad in the Lok Sabha, recently relinquished the constituency after also winning the Raebareli seat in Uttar Pradesh. Party sources indicate that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is expected to contest the upcoming by-election in Wayanad.

They visited key affected areas, such as the Chooralmala landslide site, a Community Health Centre, Dr. Moopen’s Medical College, and two relief camps in Meppadi. This visit underscores the Congress party's commitment to supporting the victims of the disaster and assessing the ongoing relief efforts.
The recent landslides, triggered by torrential rains, have caused significant devastation in Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha hamlets, resulting in the tragic loss of 173 lives, including women and children.
The Gandhis’ visit is expected to bring much-needed attention to the plight of the affected families and the urgent need for continued relief and rehabilitation efforts.
