The decision of the top brass of the Indian National Congress (INC) including President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee Adhir Ranjan Choudhary to decline an invite by the Ayodhya Mandir Trust for the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha has resulted in a mixed response from within the party. “The decision of the party is our decision as well. We are not opposed to Sri Ramachandra. They are indulging in politics on this issue. See, they have made Sri Ramachandra a big political issue. They have made him a political property. We are opposing this,” Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramiah stated in an interaction with the press in Bengaluru.
However there are instances of public opposition to this decision within INC as well. “Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram is an esteemed god and therefore it is natural that the faith of millions of Indians are attached to the temple which will be inaugurated. People in the higher rung of Congress must refrain from statements that do not take this into account and keep the sentiments of the people in mind. These statements bring disappointment to many workers of the Congress especially in the Gujarat division of the INC. Jai Shree Ram,” Ambarish Der, the Working President of INC Gujarat stated on the microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter).
(1/2) pic.twitter.com/elzFFyRHoe
