Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is gearing up to launch the much-awaited Yellow Line by August 15, with three operational plans in place. Of these, Plan 1 has received preliminary approval and is BMRCL’s preferred option for the inaugural rollout.

Under Plan 1, metro trains will run along the full 19 km stretch from RV Road to Bommasandra, but with limited halts. Only seven out of the 16 stations—those expected to see the highest footfall—will be operational initially. Trains will run every 20 minutes, with the frequency expected to improve to every 8–9 minutes by October, once all nine train sets arrive. Currently, three trains are available, with one more expected in August and five additional sets by October.

Stations with initial stops include:
RV Road, Jayadeva Hospital, Central Silk Board, Kudlugate, Hosa Road, Konappana Agrahara (Electronic City), and Bommasandra.

Plans 2 and 3 are under consideration. Plan 2 proposes a shorter route between Bommasandra and Central Silk Board with 12 operational stations. Plan 3 includes all 16 stations but with reduced frequency, running trains every 30 minutes.

While work is underway across the entire Yellow Line, BMRCL is awaiting final clearance from the state government to implement the chosen plan.

The partial rollout aims to ease traffic in key tech and transit corridors while full-scale operations are expected by year-end.
