In the past 20 days, Karnataka has reported 35 new COVID-19 cases, of which 32 are from Bengaluru alone. In Andhra Pradesh, mask-wearing has already been made mandatory, prompting Karnataka to prepare for any possible surge.
The advisory particularly highlights the need for vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, children, and people with pre-existing health conditions to wear masks in public. The department stated that even though COVID-19 is not currently in a severe phase in the state, precaution is still crucial.
The public has been advised to wear masks in crowded places, use sanitizers frequently, and maintain proper hygiene. The department also stressed that individuals showing symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) should undergo COVID-19 testing without delay.
While the number of cases remains relatively low, the silent spread of the virus is a matter of concern. The health department has reiterated that there is no need for panic, but awareness and preventive action are essential.
