With a steady uptick in Covid-19 cases, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has issued a special appeal to the public urging caution and awareness, especially among vulnerable groups. While the situation is under control, the Minister emphasized that those with respiratory symptoms should get tested promptly.

“There’s no need to panic,” Rao said, addressing the state’s current caseload of 35, including 32 from Bengaluru. Nationwide, 257 cases have been reported, all with mild symptoms and no serious complications so far.
To strengthen preparedness, the Health Department will begin Covid testing in Bengaluru from tomorrow. An official announcement detailing RTPCR testing centers is expected later today. The technical advisory committee met yesterday to review the situation and recommend next steps, including identifying hospitals for testing and treatment.
Rao advised that masks are not mandatory for the general public but wearing them in crowded places, especially for pregnant and lactating women, is advisable. “It’s not compulsory, but wearing a mask is good for our own safety,” he said.
The government has coordinated with the Centre to implement precautionary measures and ensure readiness should the situation escalate. The public is urged to stay informed through official channels and avoid unnecessary fear or confusion.
The Health Department continues to monitor developments closely and will issue further guidance as needed.
