In response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka, particularly in Bengaluru, health authorities have decided to ramp up testing efforts. Starting tomorrow, government medical colleges and district hospitals will resume COVID testing, including the reopening of eight dedicated RT-PCR testing labs.

The decision was prompted by the increase in active cases, with 35 new cases reported as of yesterday. Initially, testing will begin at Victoria Hospital, followed by expansion to other major hospitals like Bowring. Only select government hospitals will conduct COVID tests for now, focusing resources where they’re needed most.
The testing effort will primarily cover Bengaluru, the state’s hotspot for active cases. Health officials have urged citizens to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines, especially amid concerns of further spread.
This decision to increase testing, particularly through designated medical colleges and district hospitals, aims to identify and contain new cases swiftly, avoiding overwhelming healthcare facilities.
