A million dreams came crashing down as Australia beat India in the World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad. Though India remained invincible right throughout, the final was a tough nut to crack.

Well, cricket is all about building bridges, soothing frayed tempers and enjoying a sense of camaraderie and bonhomie.

As Australia won the glory and Indian players were dismayed and distraught, some even weeping tears, Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell, came rushing to Virat Kohli and consoled him, in what is a sui generis exhibition of warmth.

The BCCI put out a post on X, calling it “Respect and Admiration”.

In the photos shared, Kohli can also be seen signing his jersey.

Both Maxwell and Kohli share a very good bonding. The two also play for RCB in the IPL.

Team India hold their heads high

Though the men in blue went down fighting to the men from down under, it was just a bad day at the office. Coincidentally, it also happened to be the most important day of the World Cup – the final.

But the grit and determination shown by the Indian players was one of determination and tenacity of purpose.

The cup may not be India’s but surely there are some wonderful memories to cherish!
