The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has partnered with Rotary Bangalore Midtown (RBM) to undertake a large-scale sandalwood plantation initiative in Bengaluru. The project, launched on the CRPF’s 250-acre campus, aims to enhance the city's green cover and contribute to long-term environmental sustainability.

Beginning with an initial plantation of 3,000 saplings, the initiative plans to scale up to 10,000 sandalwood trees, depending on the availability of land and water resources. The green drive aligns with Bengaluru’s need for expanded lung spaces amid rapid urbanization.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two entities outlines that any revenue from the commercial sale of the sandalwood trees, expected after 15 years, will be directed towards the welfare of CRPF martyrs’ families. The initiative combines ecological impact with a social welfare agenda, offering dual benefits.

Rotary Bangalore Midtown also intends to engage Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partners to support the program, with plans to incorporate rainwater harvesting systems to enhance groundwater recharge on the premises.

This green model is envisioned as a replicable framework for secure government campuses across India, including those under the military, Border Security Force (BSF), and Air Force.

The project not only aims to improve ecological balance but also to generate long-term economic value, making it a unique blend of environmental responsibility and community support.
