Neesham’s tweet from 2019 has been misinterpreted

You can’t even reach the final and you're asking us to bake: Troll

New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham shared screenshots of messages he received after India’s loss against Australia in the 2023 World Cup final. “Didn’t watch the game last night but I guess Australia won? What have I missed?” he captioned his stories. From the looks of it, it seems that Neesham’s tweet from 2019 has been misinterpreted to have been directed towards India.

In 2019, New Zealand lost in the World Cup final on the basis of a boundary count after the game ended in a tie and the super over that followed also ended in a tie.

James Neesham played a significant role in the crunch moments of the game. He almost had Ben Stokes caught in the deep before Trent Boult stepped on the ropes with the ball in his hands. He was also sent to bat in the Super Over and managed to bring the equations close. In disappointment he had tweeted, “Kids, don’t take up sports, take up baking or something, Die at 60 really fat and happy.” The trolls seem to have taken the tweet out of its context. “You can’t even reach the final and you’re asking us to bake,” one of the messages read.
