Sunrisers Hyderabad have failed to qualify for the playoffs in the past 3 seasons consecutively and have finished at the bottom of the table on 2 occasions. However on paper their squad looks extremely strong. Aiden Markram, Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Samad, Glenn Philips, Harry Brook,Henrich Klassen, Marco Jansen, Washington Sundar, T Natrajan, Karthik Tyagi and Rahul Tripathi are some names known for a phenomenal aptitude for the game of T20. They in fact started the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as favorites and the expectations were high. Why they have failed to deliver therefore remains to be seen. One factor could be the unexpected injuries that had hit the team but the team management are currently pursuing alternate options for the coaching position as well.

They have replaced Brian Lara with Daniel Vettori. Daniel Vettori had served the Royal Challengers Bangalore as the coach and even as a captain prior to that. In this period, they reached the finals on 2 occasions, although not winning the trophy that has eluded them since the beginning of IPL in 2008. Meanwhile, RCB have also got hold of Andy Flower as their new coach for this season. Andy Flower had served as the coach for LSG in the previous season.
