Sandalwood actor Darshan also referred to as the Challenging Star has a court hearing scheduled on July 18th in light of his judicial custody having come to an end. The police have filed a remand petition with the court explaining why bail should not be provided to Darshan and the 17 other accused in the case pertaining to Renukaswamy’s murder. The suspects will be produced before the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court through video conferencing. Reports indicate that in all likelihood the judicial custody of the suspects will be extended.
Darshan’s lawyers are yet to file an application for bail. They are in anticipation of the chargesheet being filed by the police. The police have a period of 90 days within which they should file a chargesheet. It is very rare for a bail to be granted in a murder case before the chargesheet is filed.

Darshan had earlier filed a writ petition requesting for homemade food in jail. The High Court asked the jail authorities to file a report in light of this petition. This case will also be discussed in the session which will be held on July 18th. The jail authorities opposed Darshan’s petition on the grounds that an exception could not be made for Darshan’s case.
