He faced the ire of villagers as he had not kept his pre poll promise

Basavaraj Shivaganga, Congress MLA from the Channagiri town in the Davangere district has bought a Land Rover Range Rover which is estimated to cost Rs 2.39 crore. A photo of him posing in front of the car has also become viral.

Basavaraj Shivaganga had recently returned to Karnataka after a tour to Dubai. He bought the car in Bengaluru.

Basavaraj Shivanna faced the ire of villagers in his constituency in September as he had not kept his pre poll promise of ensuring residence of the villagers in a specific region and had instead offered them land in a region close to a burial ground.

In July he was among the MLAs who had registered dissent against the Chief Minister for not allocating sufficient time for the MLAs. Non allotment of funds and lack of consultation before implementing the transfer of officials to their region were other concerns. “As there is not even a minimal response or assurance to my letters and to facilitate the works of the people in my segment, I request to appoint me either as personal secretary or OSD to one of the Cabinet ministers,” he had stated in a letter that he wrote to Chief Minister Siddarmaiah.
