David Miller denies rumours of retirement from T20 international cricket

Amidst the jubilation among Indian fans over the ICC trophy drought of the team having come to an end after a period of 11 years, the despair among South African fans of having missed out a trophy despite having reached the striking distance is evident. South African David Miller was particularly distraught after a brilliant catch at long off ended his innings when South Africa needed 16 runs to win off 6 balls. “I am gutted!! Really tough pill to swallow after what transpired 2 days ago. Words don't explain how I am feeling. One thing I do know is how proud I am of this unit. This journey was an incredible one, with highs and lows throughout the entire month. We have endured pain, but I know this team has the resilience and will keep raising the bar,” David mentioned on his Instagram story.

South Africa has earned the tag of ‘chokers’ as such occurrences of missing the mark by sheer bad luck or the inability to get hold of their nerves has occurred on numerous occasions in the past. David Miller was also part of the 2015 World Cup Squad that made it into the semi final only to lose the game against New Zealand as allrounder Grant Elliot smacked a six when New Zealand needed 5 to win off 2 balls. David had earlier scored an 18-ball 49 in the first innings of the game that consisted of 6 fours and 3 sixes. Although disappointed, Miller denied rumours of him retiring from T-20 cricket.  Contrary to reports, I have not retired from T20 international cricket. “I will continue to be available for the Proteas. The best is yet to come,” Miller remarked in his Instagram story.
