Actor Deepika Padukone marked a special milestone by announcing the launch of the Padukone School of Badminton (PSB) on her father and legendary shuttler Prakash Padukone’s 70th birthday. Taking to Instagram, the actor shared the news with a heartfelt note celebrating her father's lifelong dedication to the sport. 

"As someone who grew up playing badminton, I’ve experienced firsthand how much this sport can shape one’s life – physically, mentally, and emotionally,” Deepika wrote. “Through Padukone School of Badminton (PSB), we hope to bring the joy and discipline of Badminton to people from all walks of life, and build a generation that is healthier, more focused, and inspired by sport.”

Addressing her father directly, she added, “Pappa, those who know you well, know your passion for this sport. That even at 70, all you do is eat, sleep and breathe Badminton. And we are committed to making your passion a reality: Badminton for All! Happy 70th Birthday Pappa (sic)!”

According to an official press release, PSB aims to expand to 250 centres by 2027. In its inaugural year, the initiative has already launched over 75 grassroots coaching centres across 18 cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, NCR, Chennai, Pune, and Mysuru, promoting the mission of making badminton accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background.
