Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has offered a job opportunity to a Bengaluru-based individual named Bhanu after he shared insightful suggestions to optimize the company's newly launched “Food Rescue” feature. The initiative, aimed at curbing food wastage, enables users to purchase cancelled food orders at discounted rates.
Following Goyal’s announcement of the feature on X (formerly Twitter), Bhanu suggested four measures to prevent potential misuse. His recommendations included excluding cash-on-delivery payments for rescued orders, prohibiting cancellations if deliveries are within 500 meters of their destination, limiting users to two cancellations per month, and addressing the risk of coordinated orders and cancellations for discounts.

Impressed by Bhanu’s thoughtful insights, Goyal praised his “good thinking” and expressed interest in learning more about him, hinting at the possibility of a professional collaboration.
The Food Rescue feature was introduced as Zomato faces over 400,000 monthly order cancellations. Despite having a no-refund policy, these cancellations contribute to significant food wastage. Through this initiative, cancelled orders in original and untampered packaging will become available to nearby users at reduced prices, ensuring quick delivery.
By introducing Food Rescue, Zomato aims to address food wastage effectively while enhancing user experience, with Goyal’s interaction highlighting the company's openness to community feedback for continuous improvement.
