In a landmark decision aimed at promoting sports, the Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has announced a significant hike in cash rewards and government job incentives for medal winners in major international sporting events under the Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana.

Under the new policy, Olympic gold medalists will receive Rs 7 crore and a Group-A level government job. Silver medalists will receive Rs 5 crore along with a Group-A government position, while those winning bronze will be granted Rs 3 crore and appointed to a Group-B government role.
The revised incentives extend beyond the Olympics. Athletes winning medals at the Paralympics, Asian Games, Asian Para Games, Commonwealth Games, and National Games will also benefit from increased rewards.
For instance, medalists in the Asian Games and Asian Para Games will now get:
- Rs 3 crore for gold,
- Rs 2 crore for silver, and
- Rs 1 crore for bronze.
Commonwealth Games medal winners will receive:
- Rs 2 crore for gold,
- Rs 1.5 crore for silver, and
- Rs 1 crore for bronze.
For National Games, all medal winners will be given Rs 11 lakh each.
Following the Cabinet meeting, Minister Ashish Sood highlighted that the decisions reflect Chief Minister Gupta’s commitment to empowering the youth and fostering a strong sports culture in the national capital. The policy is designed to encourage excellence and ensure athletes are recognized not just with money but with career opportunities as well.
