The dengue epidemic is intensifying across the state, with a sharp rise in infections and fatalities. Recent reports indicate the virus has now claimed lives in both Hassan and Gadag districts.

In Hassan, a 23-year-old woman named Supritha succumbed to the suspected dengue fever. She had been experiencing severe fever for the past four days and was initially treated at the district hospital. Due to complications, she was transferred to a private hospital, where she passed away despite ongoing medical efforts. Supritha was a resident of Mududi Tandya village in Araseekere taluk. Her untimely death has left her family devastated.

In Gadag, the dengue outbreak claimed its first victim, a five-year-old child named Chirai Manjunath Hosmani from Shirunja village in Gadag taluk. Chirai had been battling severe fever and was initially treated at Gadag GIMS Hospital. Following deterioration in his condition, he was moved to SDM Hospital in Dharwad, where he eventually passed away.
