Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, issued a stern warning to Pakistani adversaries, underscoring the formidable defensive grid of the Indian Armed Forces. In a candid yet calculated message, he asserted that any attempt to target India’s airfields or logistics hubs would be met with overwhelming resistance.

“Targeting our airfields and logistics is way too tough,” Lt Gen Ghai stated, emphasizing the multi-layered defence mechanisms in place. Drawing an analogy from cricket, he referenced legendary Indian batsman Virat Kohli, who recently announced his retirement from Test cricket. “He’s one of my favourites,” he added.

He further evoked a famous saying from the 1970s Ashes series between Australia and England, highlighting the lethal pace duo of Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee: “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if Thommo don’t get ya, Lillee must.” Lt Gen Ghai used this quote as a metaphor for India’s robust and layered military defence grid.

“If you see the layers, you’ll understand what I’m trying to say. Even if you crossed all the layers, one of the layers of this grid system will hit you,” he said, reinforcing that the Indian military’s preparedness is comprehensive and relentless.

The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions, and serve as both a tribute to national sporting icons and a potent reminder of India’s unwavering defence posture.
