  • SIT continues the search with plans to dig deeper and inspect additional points

In a high-profile investigation triggered by an anonymous tip alleging mass deaths, the Karnataka government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has begun unearthing possible burial sites in Dharmasthala’s forest region. The operation, focused on uncovering the truth behind the mass deaths, officially commenced yesterday with a “guddali pooje” (ritual spade worship).

The first major excavation, measuring 15 feet wide and 8 feet deep, yielded no skeletal remains or material evidence. Despite the absence of any findings, the SIT has decided to continue operations. The site was one of 13 locations identified for investigation based on inputs from an unnamed individual.

A total of 12 local labourers, followed by JCB machines, were employed for the deep dig at Point Number 1. Today, further digging is planned at the same location, and Point Number 2 may also be opened, depending on SIT assessments.

The search effort is being closely monitored and recorded. Experts from the forensic science laboratory and doctors from KMC Hospital in Mangaluru are assisting the SIT in the field. All evidence collection and examination are being documented through video.

While the initial search did not yield results, the SIT remains committed to exploring all marked points in the coming days to verify the allegations.
