The Karnataka government has officially formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Dharmasthala case. From today, the SIT which is led by senior IPS officer Pranav Mohanty, will begin its on-ground investigation.

The team is scheduled to visit the Dharmasthala police station, where they will investigate a complaint submitted anonymously. Initially, SIT officials will gather information from the Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police, the Dharmasthala Police Inspector, and other local authorities. After this briefing, the case will be formally handed over to the SIT.
To strengthen the investigation, 20 officers and staff members have been assigned to the SIT. The team includes top-level officers from various coastal districts, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada. According to official sources:
- DGP M A Saleem has appointed a fresh team, including M N Anucheth, Soumya Latha, Jitendra Kumar, and C A Simon.
- The team consists of 5 IPS officers, 2 DSPs, 6 Inspectors, and 8 Sub-Inspectors, making it a 20-member task force.
- All officers bring diverse experience, making this one of the most comprehensive investigative teams in recent memory.
Overall, the Dharmasthala case has become a topic of intense discussion across the state. Starting today, the SIT will begin its field investigation based on the letter submitted by an anonymous complainant.
