Dhoni let go of crores of rupees worth of contract: Somi Kohli

In a recent update, World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni’s bat sports a sticker of “Prime Sports”. It so happens that the owner of the brand Paramjit Singh shares a good bond with  MS Dhoni. He referred to this act as “Friendship No.1”. Paramjit had convinced sponsors to arrange for cricketing equipment for MS Dhoni at an early stage in his career. These portions were also part of the film MS Dhoni- the untold story starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput. 

This isn’t the first time MS Dhoni has displayed such gratitude. Somi Kohli, owner of ‘Beat All Sports’ who was the first sponsor of MS Dhoni in his career recalled that he did not charge any amount for displaying the sticker of the organisation in the 2019 World Cup. “Dhoni did not mention any money. He just said 'put your stickers on my bats and send them across'. I tried to convince him, 'You're letting go of such a lucrative contract'. He let go of crores of rupees worth of contract. I requested his wife Sakshi, his father, mother. Even told his CA and Paramjit from Ranchi. They all went to his home before the World Cup. But he said 'No… it is my decision,” Somi had said.
