MS Dhoni steps down as CSK captain

MSD's IPL has been stellar, to say the least

Just a day before the IPL 2024 edition is all set to kick off, Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced that he would relinquish the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings. In his place, Ruturaj Gaikwad will take over the reins. 

Under his captaincy, the CSK won as many as 5 IPL titles and 2 Champions Trophy honours. 

Road tough for MSD!

As a youngster way back in 2008, MSD had to learn the art of managing seniors not just in his team, but also in the opposition teams. Be it Sachin or Sourav among others, Dhoni had to summon his man-management skills to deal with them. And he certainly did!

Here are a few interesting facts about the legend’s journey in the IPL: 

1. He was bagged by CSK for $1.5 million dollars during the auction for the inaugural season. He was the most expensive buy at that point in time. 
2. The Pune team picked him up as one of the five draft picks for$1.6 million dollars. 
3. Under his captaincy, CSK is the most successful IPL franchise with five title wins and ten final appearances.
4. MS Dhoni became the first player to play 200 T20 matches for Super Kings and holds the record for most appearances in the IPL.
