Trevor Noah’s tour of India continued in Mumbai after his shows in Bengaluru which was scheduled to be held in the Manpho Convention Centre was cancelled on account of poor acoustics in the venue.
He recollected the incident during his performance in Mumbai. He talked about the numerous problems he faced on the day. He complained about the terrible state of roads in the city.
When he reached the venue, the security guard apparently did not recognise him and an argument ensued between one of the organisers and the guard. Noah said that despite not knowing the local language he heard the word Sai Baba after which he googled him and wondered if the guard had mistaken Trevor Noah for the godman?
He then mentioned the alley that took him to the backstage was full of dogs in a cage and that he had never come across any such arrangements in the past.
He reiterated that those in the back were not able to hear him and protested in chorus. Those in front however urged him to continue with the show. This was interpreted by Noah as an allegory to the social reality of the country. He said that the organisers had told the audience they were convincing Noah to come back to the stage after he had cancelled the performance evans he had left the venue. Many began placing orders on food delivery apps in the venue due to the traffic jam in the area. He thanked the Mumbai organisers for ensuring that the arrangements were in order.
