  • Karnataka high court had ordered against playing loud music on mobile phones

If you may have come across passengers playing loud music while travelling in KSRTC buses or Namma Metro or if you have yourself played loud music, please know that, doing so is an offence.

You have to use your ear or head phones while playing music on your mobile phone when you are travelling in Namma Metro and KSRTC buses.

Playing loud music without using earphones creates nuisance and causes great disturbance to fellow co-passengers on board the bus or train.

Namma Metro has requested its passengers to use headphones while playing music when inside the metro train.

Namma Metro is creating awareness on this move and had also sent a team in metro coaches to educate the passengers on this issue. This is being done under a Special Operation program of the BMRCL.

It has to be noted that in 2021, Karnataka High Court had issued an order while hearing a writ petition requesting to put restrictions on the use of mobile loud speakers inside buses.

The high court had ordered that the driver or the bus conductor can deboard the person, who causes nuisance in the bus by playing loud music on their mobile phones, from the bus with immediate effect. The bus can also be halted until such persons are offloaded from the bus and they cannot claim a refund on the bus fare, had said the order.
