Khan’s journey in academic honours began in 2009 when the University of Bedfordshire awarded him his first honorary doctorate. In 2015, Khan was honoured by the University of Edinburgh, one of Scotland’s oldest universities. This second honorary degree was in recognition of his remarkable work in global philanthropy and his transformative influence on the film industry. Shah Rukh Khan’s third honorary degree was conferred by Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad. The institution lauded his immense contributions to Indian cinema and his efforts to promote cultural understanding through film.
In 2019, the University of London honoured Khan with a degree for his long-standing influence on the film industry and his commendable humanitarian work.
