Mumbai defeated Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs

Sai Kishore bagged 6 wickets in 38 overs for 99 runs

This is so disappointing from the coach: Dinesh

Mumbai proceeded to the final of the Ranji Trophy for the 48th time after a comprehensive victory against Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs. Tamil Nadu Captain Sai Kishore has faced criticism despite an impressive spell wherein he bagged 6 wickets in 38 overs for 99 runs. “We lost the match at nine o’clock on Day 1. We should have bowled but the captain had some different instincts. The moment I saw the wicket I knew exactly what we were going to get. Everything was set, we won the toss, as a coach, as a Mumbaikar, I know the conditions well. But I can only lead a horse to water, can’t make it drink,” Sulakshan Kulkarni who coached Tamil Nadu in this edition said.

Former Indian wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik however backed the slow left arm orthodox bowling allrounder Sai Kishore amidst the criticism. “This is so WRONG. This is so disappointing from the coach… Instead of backing the captain who has brought the team to the semis after 7 years and thinking it’s a start for good things to happen, the coach has absolutely thrown his captain and team under the bus,” he stated on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
