Former Indian wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik who had retired from all forms of cricket after the conclusion of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) campaign in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), will once again be associated with the team in the capacity of a batting coach. The role would suit Dinesh Karthik as many batsmen including Virat Kohli have stated that they have received apt feedback from him. “Welcome our keeper in every sense, Dinesh Karthik, back into RCB in an all new avatar. DK will be the Batting Coach and Mentor of RCB Men’s team! You can take the man out of cricket but not cricket out of the man! Shower him with all the love, 12th Man Army,” RCB’s X (formerly known as Twitter) handle’s post mentioned.

Dinesh Karthik had earlier credited RCB fans for playing a role in his selection to the 2022 ICC T-20 World Cup which was held in Australia. He highlighted that despite the rivalry between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the fans have stood behind him throughout his period of association with the franchise. “I sometimes feel the 2022 World Cup, when I did get picked, it is because of RCB’s fans that I got picked. There was such a huge wave of people saying, DK has to be there. I’ll never forget it. To make a comeback at the age of 37, I hadn’t played international cricket for quite a long time before that. RCB and RCB fans have played a very important part in that small part of me going back and playing for the country and representing India in the world cup. I’ll always be thankful to them,” Dinesh said.
