Akshay Kumar’s cameo in Stree 2 (2024) not only turned heads but also contributed to the film’s record-breaking success. Despite his leading roles in Khel Khel Mein and Sarfira last year, it was Stree 2 that emerged as his biggest blockbuster of all time.

Fans are now eagerly speculating about his involvement in Stree 3 and whether his character will have a more prominent role in Maddock Films’ expanding horror-comedy universe.
Recently, Maddock Films announced that Stree 3 will hit theaters on August 13, 2025. At the Sky Force trailer launch, Akshay humorously referred to the film as his “dedh (one and a half)” collaboration with producer Dinesh Vijan. When asked about his return to the horror-comedy franchise, Akshay reportedly said “That decision lies with Dinesh and Jyoti [Deshpande]. They’re the ones funding it.” He also hinted at Amar Kaushik’s return as director, saying, “Aur Amar Kaushik ko direct karna hai [Amar Kaushik has to direct it].”
Confirming Akshay’s involvement, Dinesh Vijan compared him to a pivotal character, saying, “He’s our Thanos!”
In Stree 2, Akshay played the enigmatic leader of a mental hospital and the last member of Sarkata’s bloodline, holding the secret to defeating the ghost. With Stree 3 on the horizon, fans are excited to see if his character will take center stage or even lead a standalone horror-comedy.
Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, released on August 15, 2024, and featured Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles.
