As schools across Karnataka reopen, the state government has issued a clear advisory urging children showing symptoms of Covid-19 to stay at home. Dr. Sharanaparakash Rudrappa Patil, Minister for Medical Education, emphasized the need for caution amid concerns of rising infections.

“We advise children with Covid symptoms not to attend school. That is the advisory as of now. Hospitals coming under Medical Education Department should be ready to conduct testing, said Dr. Patil. “This simple step can go a long way in preventing potential outbreaks in educational institutions.”

To reinforce this precautionary approach, the Medical Education Department has been instructed to stay on high alert. This includes preparedness for testing, especially RTPCR tests, and ensuring the availability of oxygen-supported beds, ventilators, and essential Covid-related drugs across healthcare facilities.

While no alarming spike has been reported yet, the government is taking proactive measures to prevent a surge in cases, especially among children, who remain a vulnerable group. Schools have also been advised to follow standard Covid protocols, including masking, hygiene, and monitoring symptoms among students and staff.

This advisory is part of the state’s broader public health strategy to maintain safety while ensuring academic continuity.

“Preparedness is key,” Dr. Patil said, urging parents and institutions to cooperate in keeping schools safe for everyone.
