The below par performance by Pakistan in the ICC CWC 2023 has made them face the wrath of the media and ex-players back home. But during this barrage of attacks many have gone overboard as well.
A few weeks back, a media presenter Shoiab Jatt had shared personal screenshots of Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s WhatsApp chats before backtracking and apologising for it.
Now, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has come under the radar for a tainted remark while criticising the team. “Younis Khan had a good intention as a captain and it gave me the confidence to perform better. Everyone over here is talking about intent in relation to the Pakistan team. Actually, we don’t have good intentions to develop and polish players in Pakistan. If you think that by marrying Aishwarya Rai, a good and pious kid will be born, it does not work that way,” he said. Former Pakistan bowler Umar Gul and Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi were also present at that occasion and Afridi even laughed at this comment.
This comment was not well received on social media. Gurkirat Singh Gill, associated with Cricket.com said, “Misogynistic men will never leave an opportunity to drag women & women related issues into any discourse just to prove they are a superior gender. Very poor this from Razzaq and the people around as well, who are clapping on this.”

Meanwhile Pakistan cricket is in a state of turmoil with chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and bowling coach Morne Morkel having resigned from their position and the captaincy of Babar Azam coming under fierce scrutiny.
