Patidar, who made his IPL debut with RCB in 2021, was not retained in the 2022 auction and went unsold. Accepting the reality, he and his family decided to move forward with his personal life, fixing his wedding date for May 9, 2022. The venue was booked, and preparations were in full swing.
However, fate had other plans. Just before his wedding, RCB called him back after player Luvnith Sisodia suffered an injury. Without hesitation, Patidar grabbed the opportunity, canceling his wedding plans to rejoin the team for his base price of ₹20 lakh. His father later confirmed in an interview that the wedding was called off due to this unexpected IPL opportunity.
Patidar's decision proved to be a turning point in his career. He delivered a match-winning performance in the playoffs, cementing his place in the squad. While details about his postponed marriage remained unclear for a while, he eventually tied the knot with Gunjan Patidar. Now, as RCB’s new captain, he faces the challenge of leading the team to its first-ever IPL title.
