Dr. Ravishankar, currently serving as Secretary in the Agriculture Department, will now assume full-time leadership of BMRCL. He takes over from Sri Maheshwar Rao M., IAS, who held additional charge of the post. The move signals the government’s intent to strengthen execution capacity and fast-track metro infrastructure projects across Bengaluru.

The formal order was issued by T. Mahantesh, Under Secretary to Government, Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (Services-1), under the authority of the Governor of Karnataka.

BMRCL oversees the implementation of Namma Metro, a vital urban mobility project aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving public transport in the city. As Bengaluru grapples with rapid urbanization, expectations are high that Dr. Ravishankar’s administrative acumen will lend greater momentum to the metro’s expansion and operational efficiency.

His appointment is viewed as a strategic step towards ensuring more focused governance of the metro project, which is central to the city's long-term transport and infrastructure vision.
