In a groundbreaking step toward redefining last-mile logistics, residents of Prestige Falcon City in South Bengaluru are now receiving groceries, medicines, and essential items via drones. This pioneering initiative is the result of a strategic partnership between BigBasket and Skye Air Mobility, a leading drone logistics company. It represents a significant leap in urban delivery efficiency and sustainability.

Launched to combat growing concerns around traffic congestion and delivery delays, the drone service operates daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering swift, contactless deliveries at no additional cost to customers. The drones are capable of carrying packages weighing up to 7 kilograms and are versatile enough to handle either single or multiple orders in one trip.
The logistics model is designed for efficiency. All orders are routed through a BigBasket storage hub located within a 5-kilometer radius of the apartment complex. From there, Skye Air’s drones—approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)—transport the packages to a designated drop point at Prestige Falcon City. A staff member receives the package and ensures it is delivered to the appropriate resident.
One of the most notable aspects of the system is its technological sophistication. The drones operate without cameras, relying instead on satellite connectivity and 3D-mapped corridors for precise navigation. Real-time tracking enables seamless coordination and ensures accountability throughout the delivery process.
Beyond enhancing delivery speed and reliability, the drone-based system significantly reduces the volume of delivery vehicles entering the gated community. Previously, multiple delivery partners would make repeated trips, contributing to congestion and logistical inefficiencies. Now, drone delivery not only improves convenience but also supports environmental sustainability by minimizing ground traffic.
Encouraged by the success at Prestige Falcon City, the program is set for rapid expansion. Reports indicate that the drone delivery network will soon extend to at least 20 more residential societies across Bengaluru over the next three months.
As drone logistics gain momentum in urban India, Prestige Falcon City’s residents are at the forefront of a tech-driven transformation in daily living—fast, efficient, and future-ready.
