A shocking incident unfolded in the early hours of July 1, 2025, near Konark Hotel in Ashoknagar, when three individuals, identified as Varun, Sharan, and Niranjan, allegedly assaulted police officers during a routine drink-and-drive check. The Ashoknagar Police, conducting inspections around 1 AM, stopped a car carrying five passengers. Upon checking, the driver, Sharan, was found to be under the influence of alcohol, prompting officers to issue a notice and prepare to seize the vehicle.

The situation escalated when Varun and Niranjan, also in the car, intervened aggressively. The trio reportedly hurled verbal abuse and physically pushed the officers, obstructing their duties.
