Earn as you tweet: Twitter releases new ad revenue sharing programme with creators

  • Twitter to share ad revenue with creators
  • Scheme only applicable to verified accounts
  • Ads shown to verified users is the metric of measurement

Creators can now claim a share of the ad revenue they generate through their new ad revenue sharing program that seeks to expand on content monetisation. This is part of our effort to help people earn a living directly on Twitter,” the company said on the ‘Creator Ads Revenue Sharing’ page.

There are however many caveats to this offer. The metric of measurement to decide who receives how much payment is determined by how many verified users of twitter have come across ads while engaging with the creator’s account and this is also inclusive of the interaction through the reply feature. This offer is only valid for verified users of twitter, the reasoning behind this being that the company wants to avoid potential risks that come from bots hijacking the scheme. The scheme is being released in a gradual phase wise manner. Currently a specific group has been identified for sending invitations to get hold of their granted share in revenue. A total of 5 million dollars have been released in line with this scheme. Various twitter users have come forward and they have received payments amounting to 37,050 dollars, 11,280 dollars and 69,420 dollars?
