In a major and unexpected move, officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched surprise raids on educational institutions associated with Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara early on the morning of May 21. The institutions under scrutiny include the Siddhartha Institute of Technology (SSIT) and Siddhartha Medical College, both located in Tumakuru, Karnataka.

According to sources, the ED teams arrived at both campuses simultaneously and immediately initiated verification of financial documents and internal records. The raids are believed to be linked to suspicions surrounding financial irregularities and possible misuse of funds or assets associated with the institutions.
Reports suggest that over 30 ED officials conducted the operation, locking down key departments and preventing access to outsiders while thoroughly scanning financial files and institutional paperwork.
While the official reason behind the raids has not yet been disclosed, the investigation appears to be connected to complaints regarding discrepancies in the colleges' financial dealings and documentation. Notably, this isn’t the first time these institutions have come under the scanner,, Income Tax officials had previously conducted raids about three years ago.
There are allegations that this ED raid on Dr. G. Parameshwara’s educational institutions may be connected to the Ranya Rao gold smuggling case, although this link remains unconfirmed.
