Bengaluru witnessed political tensions escalate when former minister and MLA Munirathna was hit with an egg on his head during a public event in Lakshmidevinagar near Laggere. The incident, which occurred near Kanteerava Studio, triggered a clash between BJP and Congress supporters.

Munirathna, a Kannada film producer and Rajarajeshwari Nagar MLA, was attending a program to mark Good Governance Day when Congress workers staged a protest. Demonstrators hurled eggs at Munirathna’s car as he arrived, expressing their anger over his recent controversies, including charges of caste abuse for which he was jailed and later released on bail.

The situation quickly escalated as BJP supporters confronted the Congress protesters, leading to a heated exchange and a scuffle. Police intervened, detaining several protesters to diffuse the situation.

Amid the unrest, Munirathna staged his own protest near Kanteerava Studio, condemning the attack and asserting his stance against the opposition’s actions.

This incident underscores the deepening political rift between the BJP and Congress in Karnataka, as both parties ramp up their rhetoric.

Authorities are investigating the incident, and security has been tightened in the area to prevent further clashes. Political observers note that such confrontations are indicative of heightened tensions in the state’s polarized political landscape.
