An 82-year-old man, Rajesh Bhandiwad, who flew from London to Bengaluru on November 6, 2024, shared his distressing experience at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Despite having booked wheelchair assistance for himself and his 72-year-old wife, who has physical ailments, Bhandiwad was left to struggle through the airport with no help.
In a post on Facebook, he described the ordeal: “I was having a wheelchair service ticket. After alighting from the plane, I asked for a wheelchair. I was made to scramble for it and made to toss from one person to another and lift baggage from the belt. I am 82 years old, and there was nobody to listen.” He added that he had to walk long distances at night with his wife, who also struggled due to her ailments. “I was dropped at the stamping counter. As I am and my wife aged 75 years with physical ailments, we were made to walk dead of night till the taxi stand. It was chaos all the way till I reached home.”
