Elon Musk, the billionaire tech mogul, has announced his departure from his role as a Special Government Employee leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration. While serving, Musk spearheaded efforts to trim the federal workforce and reduce government spending, in line with Trump’s goals.

In a post on X, his social media platform, Musk expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump for the opportunity but indicated his scheduled time with the administration had come to a close. He emphasized that the principles of DOGE would continue to influence government operations and promote efficiency in the long term.

However, Musk’s exit was likely influenced by his recent comments on CBS Sunday Morning, where he voiced concern over Trump’s sweeping tax cuts and spending plans. Musk argued that the proposed legislation would balloon the national deficit, undermining DOGE’s mission to streamline government functions. He labeled the bill as a costly measure unlikely to balance fiscal prudence with effectiveness.

President Trump responded from the Oval Office, defending the bill while acknowledging its imperfections. He suggested that adjustments could still be made as the bill progresses through the Senate. Trump indicated that, while the bill had flaws, there were components he strongly supported.
