Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Kangana wrote, “1975, Emergency—A defining chapter in Indian history. Indira: India’s most powerful woman. Her ambition transformed the nation, but her #EMERGENCY plunged it into chaos.” The trailer highlights the political turbulence of the time, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s fiery speeches (portrayed by Shreyas Talpade) and Jayaprakash Narayan’s resistance (played by Anupam Kher). Other key historical figures like Jagjivan Ram (the late Satish Kaushik), Pupul Jayakar (Mahima Chaudhary), and Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw (Milind Soman) add depth to the narrative.

Reportedly, Kangana reflected on the film’s journey: “After a long journey filled with challenges, I’m glad that Emergency will finally hit the big screen on January 17. This story isn’t just about a controversial leader; it’s about themes still relevant today. Releasing close to Republic Day, it’s the perfect time to reflect on our Constitution’s resilience.”

Directed and headlined by Kangana Ranaut, Emergency boasts a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Renu Pitti, the film promises to be a compelling political drama.
